What are warnings and contraindications for Jublia?

  • There are no contraindications for Jublia.
  • Avoid pedicures, use of nail polish, or cosmetic nail products when using Jublia
  • Pregnancy: Jublia is in pregnancy category C. There are no adequate or well-controlled studies in pregnant women. 
  • Nursing: Jublia was excreted in the breast milk of laboratory rats. It is not known whether Jublia is excreted in human milk. Nursing mothers should be cautious when breastfeeding and using Jublia. 

What are side effects of Jublia?

Common side effects of Jublia include:

  • irritation at the treated site
  • ingrown toenail
  • redness
  • itching
  • swelling
  • burning or stinging
  • blisters 
  • pain
  • application site dermatitis

Serious side effects were not reported.

What were the clinical efficacy results for Jublia?

The safety and effectiveness of the once-daily use of Jublia for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail were assessed in two 52 week prospective, multi-center, randomized, double-blinded trials in patients 18 years and older (18-70 years old) with 20% to 50% infection of the toenail. The study results showed complete cure rate, defined as no evidence of fungal infection at week 52, in 15.2% to 17.8% of patients receiving Jublia (n=1236) compared with 3.3% to 5.5% receiving placebo (n=415) for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail.
