Healthy Eating

One of the best ways to remove harmful toxins from your body is to detox naturally. The body is amazing in its abilities to cope with all the harmful things we do to it and put in it. The body can and will detox naturally on its own but there are a few things we can do to help it out.

Avoid Unknown and Un-Researched Detox Programs

The first thing you should do is avoid using online detox programs, do it yourself books, advice from friends and family, or information from infomercials. Some people want to remove heavy metals and other harmful toxins from the body while others use detox programs to lose weight. Before starting any detox program, check to see whether it causes any harmful side effects. Most detox diets, pills, and fads are more harmful than helpful to your body and in some cases can have very serious side effects.

Change Your Diet

Detoxing can remove toxins from your body and sometimes you can lose weight in the process because a healthy detox lifestyle is all about changing eating habits. One of the best forms of detoxing is changing what you eat and drink. Stop eating foods which contain harmful chemicals and additives. Implement a balanced diet and eat more fruits and veggies that are loaded with fiber, vitamins and antioxidants. Fruits, green veggies, citrus, garlic, seeds and nuts, olive oil, avocado, and flax seed which contain high amounts of omega-3 oils should be included your diet.

Buy organic fruits and veggies, if you can, to avoid pesticides often used on non-organic produce. If you cannot afford organic products, try to buy fruits and veggies with less exposure to pesticides or remove the skin and rind before eating the fruit.

Drink Plenty of Clean Fluids

Flush the body by drinking plenty of water and other healthy liquids. Water works not only to hydrate the body but also to flush toxins and fat out of the body. Green tea flushes the body contains high levels of antioxidants that help to improve liver function and may help you lose weight. Avoid drinks containing additives and chemicals.

Get Moving

Start exercising. Exercising helps you lose weight, improves overall health, and the sweating flushes fat and toxins out of the body. Jump into the sauna after working out, for relaxation and to encourage more sweating and toxin release. Just remember not to overdo your sauna time and to drink plenty of water while in it.

Go to Bed

Get plenty of rest. Sleep studies show that ample sleep is just as important for weight loss and staying healthy as eating, drinking and exercising right. Sleep not only leaves you feeling rested but also is the body’s downtime to repair and heal as well as to flush out the body.

Avoid Alcohol, Smoking, and Drugs

Finally, avoid heavy drinking, drugs and smoking, or being in rooms where people are smoking. Alcohol is okay when consumed in moderation, especially red wine which has plenty of antioxidants. Smoking and drugs of any kind (that includes prescription) are harmful to the body. Do not avoid prescription medications you need, but avoid overtaking or abusing prescription drugs. Alcohol, drugs, and smoking can cause the body to age faster and have some serious side effects.

By doing these five things, you are helping your body remove toxins naturally without the aid of crash detox programs. A lifestyle that involves eating right, exercise, sleep, and proper hydration will help you feel better. And when you feel better, the possibilities are endless.
